Acne vulgaris, what to except with a Dr? I have seen pictures and I was glad that there is a name for this. Accompanying my body acne came chicken pox! I am covered with scars all over because of the acne and pox. I can't even explain the frustration. I have given up trying to help it, now my only choice is to see a dermatologist. What should I except at the first visit? Would they maybe ask me about what foods I eat and things like that? I don't want the best years of my life to be ruined because of this. Acne Vulgaris and Roaccutane? I have acne vulgaris and have done since I was 11 (ish). I'm 18 now and even with continued antibiotic treatment and now Retin-A gel it's not getting any better. I've recently had to change antibiotics because I suddenly had an allergic reaction to the last lot I was using. My GP did say if he saw no improvement in my skin within the next three months we would have to think about seeing the dermatologist again about roaccutane. He said he would have given me it himself if he was still working at the local hospital as the consultant dermatologist. But I know for a fact that the new consultant is unlikely to give me roaccutane as a lot of my acne papules have turned into subcutaenous cysts in the past. I'm going away from the 28th of this month until the 31st August to work in the South of France, my GP has given me enough repeat prescriptions of my antibiotics and topical face cream to last. Is it worth asking to see the dermatologist before I leave and then finding one in France for the repeat prescriptions, as I know from experience that the sun just makes my acne worse than normal or should I just sit it out with the antibiotics and topical gel until I get back from France and can see the dermatologist at my local hospital? Also is roaccutane likely to help at all with my skin, it's not really severe, at most it's moderate acne and only the odd one actually scars, but I've had it for 7 years and it is hereditary. I don't want to take roaccutane and put up with all the side effects if it's not going to help. Can it work on a more moderate but persistant acne? Hi Chill, I have hereditary acne, both my parents are in their 40's and still suffer from severe acne. Both my younger siblings are getting the first signs of moderate acne. I'm an elite ballet dancer, my diet is perfect and was made by a nutritionist. The rest of my family have also seen her and we all have a perfectly healthy diet and she agrees, diet makes NO difference in most moderate-severe acne cases. My medication DOES make a difference, I just haven't completely cured it yet and that's what I'm working towards with my GP. I asked for advice about roaccutane and my skin, I didn't ask to be told it's essentially my fault I have acne. It IS however your fault that there are plenty of people with acne walking around cutting essential foods out of their diets because they think it's making their acne worse and it IS your fault that these people also won't go see a doctor and get the help they need for acne. Acne is caused by bacteria, antibiotics gets rid of that bacteria.
Acne vulgaris, scarring, TREATMENT ? I never had severe acne like the way I did the last 2 months, It was acne vulgaris. I am taking medication and antibiotic gel from my dermatologist. It is healing now after 2 months and the scarring is quite new but looks digusting.. Here is a pic of me before without acne and a pic with the acne healing.. Severe Acne Vulgaris Help? I have severe acne vulgaris on my upper back/shoulders. I have had it since I was 15, I am now 30. In the past few months it has begun to spread to my chest : ( and it is starting to emotionally and psychlogically break me not only as a man, but as a husband and a Daddy. I remain strong all the time and preach inner strength to my girls, but I NEVER once have gone swimming with them, or even allwed them to see without my shirt on. : ( This is a shameful pain I wish for nobody. Can somebody please offer me some advice on what I can do to stop this, and even one step further, to help the appearance of the guaranteed scarring. I have acne vulgaris .I applied benzoyl peroxide and my skin is burning like hell !...? My skin is Normal and i DONT HAVE A SENSITIVE SKIN.I I consulted a skin specialist and he told me that i have acne vulgaris on my face (mainly on forehead and upper lips).He suggested me to apply benzoyl peroxide and also told me that a little irritation might occur. Today is the fifth day of the application and my skin is red and burning like hell.Even when i remove the cream through a cotton gently it gets worse.My facial skin looks totaly red and completely dull. I even apply a cream known as 'Adapalane Microspheres + Clindamycin Phosphate gel' at night and benzoyl peroxide in the morning. Is the irritation a side effect ? should i stop using it ?
HELP! I can't remember the title of this book about a man with acne vulgaris and his overweight love...? I remember what it was about, I just don't remember the title or the author and it's been driving me crazy. The book was about this man with acne vulgaris who has been in love with his partner since they were 13. She's overweight and has gone to some sort of fitness thing and refuses to talk to him, but sends him letters frequently. This has been going on for six months when the book begins. The book goes on to tell of them both being molested by their priest when they were younger (or something like that?) which is the root to her eating and him having so much stress which caused the acne. The book talks about a year during their teens where the girl went to live somewhere else and it's revealed that she had been pregnant and had a baby. The plot is kind of fuzzy to me, but I remember it being a pretty good book.
Can anyone offer advice on the best acne treatments available? Hi there. I just got back from a visit to my GP, who has diagnosed me with Acne Vulgaris. He's sending me to see a specialist and says i'll probably be put on Roaccutane. I have friends who have had this treatment and their skin has been left scarred as a result. Is direct sunlight gmake acne worse or better? How did you get rid of your acne? How old were you? I am almost 20 years old and I am so fed up with this acne. I've had it since i was 13 and it won't go away. It's a combination of blackheads, whiteheads, papules and pustules. Just everything, I think it's called acne vulgaris. Sudden severe acne vulgaris problem ^^ help? First, I know there are a ton of questions like these. In the wake of a ton of finals, I've only just been going back to the gym, and my acne has gotten out of hand, probably from all the stress. Fine, a few spots can be covered on the face. But my back looks horrendous, it looks like a purple mine field, and I'm not sure what to do...I'm going to be in the water, a lot, with other people, and a swimsuit is definitely NOT in order. What can I wear to be inconspicuous and simultaneously decent looking?
My dermatologist says my neck acne is not keloidalis nuchae (folliculitis) - that it is all acne vulgaris? I don't believe him. First one said it's rosacea...that was a year ago and like $200 worth of medications (even with my insurance paying for most of it - $200 was my copay!)...I stopped that right away...I know my neck acne has to be folliculitis, it is big nodules and small little bumps that I pick at constantly and form scabs and dry up, then I pick them again and they bleed...they're not pus-filled... any ideas? This money-monger new schmuck won't admit it's folliculitis - lemme email u a pic of it please someone... I just want to know!

Cystic Acne. Any substitute for Accutane? How bad can Accutane get? I had acne vulgaris when I was around 13. But it only lasted for a couple of years. Now 24. About 3 years back (while studying in the US), it recurred. But it was much serious, it was something like cystic acne. They are normally huge, lie underneath the skin, and take a long time for the puss to occur and even longer time to heal. They normally emerge at the same areas, particularly around the chin area, at the sides of the nose, and at the sides of the forehead.. There can be 6-10 "connected" pimples on the chin when it gets very bad. While my acne problem doesn't recur 100% of the time (mainly due to stress, I surmise), it really hurts, more so emotionally. Please help. How effective is Accutane. And if there is any alternative to that? As I read it can be really harmful to certain individuals. Thank you for your answer. It means a lot to me.
About a year ago I developed sever acne on my back and chest. I've tried everything and nothing works. HELP I was sick with pneumonia and I suddently developed acne vulgaris on my back and chest. I've been to the dermotologist 3 times and he finally gave me acutane after giving me other topicals and oral meds. NOTHING has worked. I've tried tea tree oil, special soaps, lotions, everything. Can i put Betamethasone Dipropionate on a popped pimple? I have a very irritated area on my face almost 10mm in diameter, and i would like to know if i could put beta .05% cream on it. I know they say do not put it on acne vulgaris, but this pimple has already been popped and i am merely trying to reduce the redness.

I require this drug for my son who has severe acne vulgaris with pustules around his face. We have done a great improvement with Pro Active but the deep located furuncles remain. I treated him with Norfloxacin but this is not the ideal drug for Staph soft tissue infections. During adolescence young men frequently face this problem due to hormonal changes. But his case merits a treatment of full course antibiotics. Where in the US can we obtain it. We are residing abroad and can only obtain a foreign prescription.

What acne treatments and routines have worked for you? I am medical student and have become interested in dermatology and I'm researching using many conduits. That being said I have seen a few individuals ranging in background, race etc. with acne problems and half the time, cold diagnosis doesn't work. Even seasoned dermatologist say it takes time to understand what works; its the people that tell you what to prescribe! I want to know about your skin treatments and routines. From scar treatments that have worked for you in conjunction with your acne treatments to curing full blown cases of acne vulgaris or acne without comedones. If you've seen a doctor for your acne, what were you diagnosed as, prescribed and did the treatment work? I understand this is somewhat private information but it could go a long way with helping another individual with their own personal bout with acne. I have 3rd party survey information but that doesn't give doctors a truly accurate idea of what works best as it is not that simple and they're often associated with a skin treatment retailer anyway. Only experience in what works does and I don't have that yet. Be honest and frank. If a popular product didn't work for you, say so but also include your usage. If you would miss a few treatments a month and so on. Of course diet and exercise have a lot to do with circulation of the blood to the skin, the amount of sebum one secrets and hormone levels so don't hold back any of that information too. How to get rid of severe ACNE VULGARIS!!? I HAVE HONESTLY TRIED EVERYTHING THE DOCTOR HAS TO OFFER benzoyl peroxide, Tetracycline everything in the chemist and supermarket I was on high dose of drugs for more than a well over over $1000. dollars worth and still no results I can get fat lumps (usually with white puss in them), black heads, white heads sometimes all in one on my chest, face upper and lower back and neck as far as I can remember I've had it since I was 12 yrs old and Im 19 now!! Ive taken about 4 types of drugs, Ive been to about 5 different doctors and still no results I am getting fed up. I have tried a few natural remedies and am willing to give anything a go!!! please help!!
a question about acne vulgaris? so ive had acne vulgaris for a long time (im 18 now) and i finally received treatment last year. im taking nicotinamide, and im washing my face with pacnex, and i have 2 face creams: clindamycin and epiduo. now i am really tired of using these items EVERY DAY, so my question is will my hormones eventually decrease forever and leave me with normal skin like before i hit puberty?
Acne Folliculitis........need help!!!? I have got acne folliculitis on my scalp. My complete scalp is covered with yellowish pustules filled with pus which burns a lot. I was taking antibiotics for acne vulgaris for about 5 to 6 years. So I guess it is Gram-negative folliculitis. Also, my skin is extremely oily. I want to get rid of this permanently.
